Mr. Abhishek Ranjan is an accomplished energy-sector leader with over two decades of diverse experience spanning power distribution, renewable energy, utility operations, information technology, and strategic consulting. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Vice President of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL), where he is leading the utility’s transition toward innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth.

His academic foundation is anchored in engineering and management, holding a PGDM from XLRI Jamshedpur and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from NIT Bhopal. He further enriched his professional expertise through a Business Excellence certification from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, and specialised certifications in Data & Decision Science Consulting from IIT Delhi. He is a Certified Energy Manager (BEE) and a Certified REGrid® Manager, reflecting his strong grounding in clean energy systems and energy-efficiency practices.

Across his career, Mr. Ranjan has held leadership roles with eminent organisations such as Ernst & Young–Parthenon, ReNew Power, Reliance Power, NHPC, and Infosys. As Partner at EY–Parthenon, he led the Renewable Electricity, Power Markets, and Energy Storage practice for the South Asia and Middle East region, guiding clients on energy transition, decarbonisation strategies, and sector coupling solutions. In his earlier tenure at BRPL, he played a pivotal role in shaping renewable integration, demand-side management, power scheduling, and sustainability initiatives. His work strengthened grid reliability, enhanced customer services, and mainstreamed innovations such as rooftop solar, community energy storage, electric mobility programs, advanced forecasting models, and cost-effective multi-source power procurement. With extensive hands-on experience in power system operations—day-ahead and intra-day scheduling, demand forecasting, tariff design, SCADA implementation, and techno-commercial analysis—Mr. Ranjan brings a rare blend of operational depth and strategic foresight. He is also an active trainer and a strong advocate of institutional capacity building.

A frequent speaker and published author on energy transition, utilities, renewable electricity, and power markets, he continues to contribute to thought leadership in the sector while steering BRPL’s evolution into a future-ready distribution utility.
