Energy Sector Specialist at South Asia Energy Sector Office, Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Samrat has extensive experience in the energy sector with over 17 years across various functions of the energy value from generation to transmission and distribution. He has worked at the government level in supporting the design of government schemes for distributed renewal energy, support program implementation at state and with the private sector companies to scale up renewable energy business, diversification etc. Having extensively worked in India and in Africa through his past organizations like the Global Green Growth Institute (South Korea), PwC, Torrent Power etc. he has transferred knowledge and learning to contribute to the development of the power sector. In his current role with the South Asia Energy Sector Office at Asian Development Bank, he is based in India and leads ADB’s loan portfolio in the areas of energy efficiency, power distribution (RDSS), renewable energy generation etc. He is also part of ADB’s modeling work in area of energy transition with Govt of India and some select key states. Samrat holds a Bachelor of Technology in Instrumentation Engineering from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala and Masters in Power and Energy Management from the National Power Training Institute of the Ministry of Power, GOI. He also has an Executive MBA with specialization in Supply Chain Management from IIM Kolkata.
