Alok Kumar
Director, The Lantau Group (Former Secretary, Government of India)
Currently serving as Director at The Lantau Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd in Delhi, he is also a Professor of Practice in the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy at IIT Roorkee. Additionally, he chairs the Inter-Ministerial Working Group established by NITI Aayog to develop a power sector pathway for achieving India’s Net Zero commitment. With a distinguished 35-year career in public policy and economic development as a member of India’s premier federal civil service (IAS), he rose to the position of Secretary in the National Government. His extensive expertise spans electricity, renewable energy, energy transition, infrastructure development, and skill development. He has led multiple large commercial organizations as CEO and played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing numerous national and state-level policies, programs, and regulatory frameworks. Notably, he successfully managed the operations of one of the world’s largest power systems and spearheaded comprehensive sectoral reforms. His leadership as chair of the G20 Energy Transitions Working Group further demonstrates his deep understanding of global energy transition dynamics.
