Ajeya Bandyopadhyay
South-Asia Lead for Climate Advisory, International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group
Ajeya Bandyopadhyay is presently the Asia-Pacific Lead of Climate Advisory of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group. In this role, he is responsible for growing IFC’s climate-investment opportunities in Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services sector. His key activities involve enabling investment opportunities through new project development and their implementation, enhancing investment outcomes to increase the development impact of IFC investments and improve the performance of IFC’s portfolio clients, and improving investment conditions, collaborating with external stakeholders to drive sector and market-wide change. Ajeya advises large regional companies and MNCs on issues such as Decarbonization, Energy Transition, Circular Economy, Green Supply Chain etc. and, supporting their implementation through climate finance instruments and targeted policy reforms. Prior to joining World Bank Group, Ajeya was a Partner with KPMG (India), and before that he was a Director (Advisory) of EY (India), where he led advisory practices on climate change, cleaner technologies and sustainable cities. His experience spans across 17 countries in 5 key geographies viz. Asia, Europe, CIS, Middle East & Africa and Latin America, where he led projects and programmes on diverse themes such as Industrial Decarbonization, Clean Energy Transition, Paris-alignment of large companies, Greening of Supply Chain, Green Cities, Eco-industrial Zones and Low-carbon Policy. On these topics, he has also authored and co-authored several Guidebooks and analytical papers for international organizations. Ajeya was a member of the ‘Multi-donor expert group on Green-FDI promotion for emerging economies’, a consulting member of NITI Ayog’s ‘Circular Economy committee’ and, various leading industry forums of India, such as CII, AMCHAM etc.
