P Babu is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, and a veteran technology leader at Thermax Limited, with over three decades of experience in advancing the cooling business to global prominence.

Currently serving as Head of Technology and Innovation, he has led breakthrough advancements in absorption cooling, including achieving over 30 percent improvement in system COP and developing the world’s first lithium bromide double-effect absorption chiller operating at 0°C. He has played a pivotal role in conceptualising and commercialising several first-of-a-kind solutions, including absorption and electric heat pumps, hybrid and closed-loop cooling towers, and adiabatic dry coolers. His leadership has contributed to four National Innovation Awards for Thermax Cooling.

A prolific innovator, he holds 10 granted patents, including four international patents, and actively contributes to global technical forums through thought leadership and invited talks.
