Parveen Dhamija
Advisor, Skill Council for Green Jobs
Parveen Dhamija is an Advisor to the Skill Council for Green Jobs and the Chairperson of Core Group on Services of the CII Task Force on Bioenergy. She is involved in the development of competencies in the domains of renewable energy, sustainable development, and waste management. She is also leading the SMARTGRAM project in the villages of Haryana adopted by Rashtrapati Bhawan for promoting clean energy initiatives. She retired as Scientist ‘G’ / Advisor from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in February 2016 after serving for about three decades. She was the Head of the State Nodal Agency and State Designated Agency for the Government of Delhi for the promotion of renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and climate change activities. She was instrumental in the preparation of policies for Solar Rooftop PV, LED lighting, Carbon Neutral City, NDMC area as Solar City, setting up of Off-grid PV systems on the rooftops of Delhi Secretariat and Vikas Bhawan II, and for upgradation of biogas from STPs to CNG for use in the transport sector. She has authored books on Environmental Education and was an International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) expert as Lead Author for the Chapter of Bio-Energy for the Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation released in May 2011. She has been a member of many BIS Committees and ISO/TC 285, Clean cookstoves and clean cooking.
