Namrata Mukherjee is currently Deputy Chief of Party at USAID’s South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) program, being implemented by RTI International. She is responsible for leading two technical work pillars during the five-year implementation period of the SAREP program: Regional energy cooperation and integration of markets and enhancing private sector investments, markets, and transparent, best-value procurement. She is an Indian energy trade and investments expert with more than 19 years of experience leading market creation and competition efforts, private sector engagement for public-private partnerships (PPPs), regulations and reforms, and regulatory development in South Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. She has been recognized as an esteemed member of the USAID-supported South Asian Women in Energy (SAWIE) network for her work and influence in the energy sector. Previously, she was Senior Vice President and Head of Policy Advocacy at Sterlite Power Transmission. In this role, she was responsible for leading industry advocacy efforts in promoting competition in transmission and private sector engagement as a mechanism to promote efficiencies in the power sector. She has worked closely with industry associations like the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Associated Chambers of Commerce (ASSOCHAM), and Electric Power Transmission Association (EPTA) to take forward some critical issues facing the renewable energy sector. She was heading the policy and regulatory practice at ILFS Energy Development Company Limited (IEDCL), which is a subsidiary of the ILFS group and a leading IPP player in India. Prior to this, she worked with Mercados EMI in New Delhi, specializing in the renewable energy sector and the Regulatory Studies and Governance Division at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi.
